Residents of the village of Leninkent reported that due to a shortage of places at the local school, they are forced to send their children to schools in Makhachkala. Furthermore, children are forced to cross the dangerous federal highway between Makhachkala and Buinaksk.

The village's main street was not electrified, posing a danger to pedestrians and drivers. The appeal from Leninkent residents was published today by the Telegram channel "Novoye Delo," which has over 13,000 subscribers. By 6:30 PM, the post had garnered over a thousand views.

"We, the long-suffering residents of the 4th microdistrict of the Leninkent settlement in Makhachkala, are writing to you with a very serious issue regarding the construction of a school in our neighborhood. In 2025, we defended a plot of land from illegal seizure by officials for the construction of a school. Today, this plot has been approved, and the design of a building with 250 student seats has been developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Dagestan," the residents write in their appeal.

According to residents, approximately 10,000 people live in the Leninkent settlement, and this number continues to grow. Due to a shortage of school places, parents are forced to send their children to the city for education. Furthermore, people are forced to "hire transportation at their own expense to transport their children to the city and other schools."

There is also a serious threat from the federal highway. By crossing the Makhachkala-Buinaksk highway, parents are putting their children's lives at risk, "after all, children die every year, and the number is growing every year," the people said.

According to the Tellegram channel, the Ministry of Education and Science explained that the proposed site had not been approved by the Ministry of Construction because, according to the ministry, the site is not intended for such construction. Work is currently underway to change the boundaries and functional purpose of the land.

Residents of the neighborhood reported that instead of the promised school, new apartment buildings were being built. According to local residents in the video, the area allocated for the school's construction has been reduced by almost half, and children have to travel across a busy highway to get to the nearest school, often at risk to their lives.

"They're not taking any measures. Why aren't they paying attention to us? They make promises, and then they leave, and that's it," said local resident Patimat Omarova.

"The population has lost hope. They hire cars and minibuses, pay them, and take their children to school and back on these vehicles because they're afraid of this highway," complained Magomed Magomedov.

"The village has expanded so much that the one school built here won't solve the problem. I'd like to see several small schools, not just one large one, so that it would be easier for the residents to get there," said Aminat Abdullaeva.

Local residents claimed they'd contacted every possible authority, and promises to solve the problem were made regularly, but there were no results.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that Makhachkala residents had appealed to the city administration to repair a street in the Eltav neighborhood, which most local children use to go to school.
