The son of the head of Chechnya, Adam Kadyrov, is undergoing treatment in Moscow after a car accident. Sources are offering different versions of the cause of the accident and the severity of his injuries. The information about the accident involving Adam Kadyrov has not been officially confirmed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," the motorcade of Ramzan Kadyrov's third son was involved in a car accident in Grozny. Adam Kadyrov and his entourage were injured, sources claim. Against this backdrop, on January 16, official media published a refutation of the reports about the death of UFC champion Khamzat Chimaev in the accident. On January 17, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a report on a meeting chaired by his son Adam following online reports that he had been involved in a car accident. He also announced that Adam Kadyrov had been awarded an award for ensuring the safety of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The video was recorded a day before the alleged accident, journalists discovered.

Versions about what happened to Adam Kadyrov differ in the severity of the consequences

There is no doubt that Adam Kadyrov was involved in a traffic accident in Grozny on January 16, 2026, two days after the incident, as Chechen opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov* wrote in his blog today. "There is also no doubt that he was injured and was urgently hospitalized in a Moscow clinic by an EMERCOM plane."

According to him, two main versions are circulating in the public domain. "Version one. As a result of the powerful impact with the barrier, Adam Kadyrov was thrown from the car, presumably because he was not wearing a seat belt. The result was serious injuries: a head injury, a broken jaw, ribs, and other injuries. This is the explanation given by proponents of this theory for the emergency evacuation to Moscow by an EMERCOM aircraft. His condition is assessed as serious but stable, the blogger noted.

According to the second version, Adam Kadyrov suffered minor, mostly cosmetic, injuries from the deployed airbags. There was no immediate threat to his life, but "just in case," they decided to transport him to the capital for treatment.

"Each version has its supporters, who claim to have inside information from people in Kadyrov's inner circle," he noted.

In particular, the first version is being presented by the Telegram channel "We Can Explain"*. According to him, the accident occurred in the Putinsky district near the "Safiya" banquet hall on Staropromyslovskoye Highway. Kadyrov's Gelandewagen veered off the road and crashed into a guardrail. According to a source on the Telegram channel, Adam's condition after the accident was extremely serious and "he was hardly recognizable."

According to another version, 1 , the driver was Apti Iraskhanov (nephew of the head of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Aslan Iraskhanov), Kadyrov Jr.'s head of security, who suffered a fractured cervical vertebra. There were also two other guards in the car. They were taken to the hospital. They suffered a concussion, bruises, and cuts. In total, about 20 people were taken to the hospital, but most of them were discharged the next morning.

Flight data confirms the departure of an EMERCOM flight from Grozny to Moscow

The publication "Horizontal Russia"* reported that an EMERCOM ambulance flight from Grozny departed for Moscow on the day of the accident. On January 17, citing data from Flightradar24, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations An-148-100EM (flight SUM9108), which departed Chechnya at 7:37 PM Moscow time on January 16, landed in Moscow. The landing was recorded at Vnukovo Airport around 1:10 AM Moscow time on January 17. Ramzan Kadyrov's Airbus ACJ319, tail number RA-73417 (flight number RSJ9617), departed Grozny at 11:25 PM Moscow time on January 16, according to Flightradar24 data, which was brought to the attention of the Agency*. Kadyrov's plane arrived in Grozny from Dubai on Friday at around 8:00 PM Moscow time and departed again that same day, landing at Vnukovo on the night of January 17.

The Cheka-OGPU* reports that Adam Kadyrov was hospitalized in the Ninth Surgical Building of the S.P. Botkin Multidisciplinary Scientific Clinical Center (Botkin Hospital). This building recently completed renovations and is used for emergency surgery. According to the source, Adam was placed in a special section of the building (there is also one in the 8th Therapy Building), which can only be accessed by special order from either the Minister of Health or the Moscow City Hall. The patient's condition is assessed as serious.

There is no official confirmation of the accident involving Adam Kadyrov. Chechen officials have also not commented on the reports. There are also no photos or videos from the alleged accident site online.

It is worth noting that on January 14, during a tour of Grozny, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov called on residents of the republic to follow traffic rules and maintain civility and ethics on the roads. "We observe traffic rules. We demonstrate and call for them," Chechnya Today quoted him as saying. Kadyrov's associates have repeatedly been involved in serious traffic accidents in Chechnya, including fatal ones, but have never been held responsible for them. In 2018, social media users criticized Ramzan Kadyrov's reaction to an accident in Grozny involving his relative. Kadyrov made it clear that the official would not be punished for the accident with three victims, and several days after the accident, Kadyrov demanded that "the most severe measures be applied" to traffic violators. In 2019, an accident in Argun with three fatalities also did not entail any consequences for the culprit - the son of a person close to Kadyrov.
