Chechen public urges members of armed units to speed up the process of laying down arms.

As the Federation Council member, the Chechen Administration representative in the Federation Council Akhmar Zavgayev reported, an enlarged session of the Chechen regional branch of the United Russia Party was held in Gudermes on Thursday.

Its participants passed an appeal to the members of armed units to speed up laying down arms and return to peaceful live. The appeal reminds the period of amnesty validity will expire on September 1.

Representatives of the republican intelligentsia and clergy, representatives of the Elders' Council, workers of Chechen institutes of higher education took part in the session.
