A drone was shot down in the Rostov region.

The military shot down a drone in the Verkhnedonsky District. Last night, the Rostov Region became the only region in southern Russia to record a drone attack.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," on the evening of January 3, drones were destroyed in Taganrog and the Neklinovsky District. According to the governor, a blast wave blew out a window in a private home in the village of Nikolayevo-Otradnoye in the Neklinovsky District. Three drones were shot down over the Rostov Region, the Ministry of Defense reported.

Last night, a drone was destroyed in the Verkhnedonsky District, Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar reported on his Telegram channel.

No one was injured.

"No one was injured. There were no reports of damage on the ground," he wrote.

According to the Ministry of Defense, from 11:30 p.m. Moscow time on January 3 to 7:00 a.m. Moscow time, 90 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed, one of them in the Rostov Region.

The remaining drones were shot down outside the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts: in the Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Moscow, Tula, Voronezh, Belgorod, and Oryol Oblasts, according to a post on the department's Telegram channel.

Payments to car owners for damage from drone attacks introduced in Rostov Oblast

Rostov Oblast authorities have established a compensation payment procedure for car owners whose property was damaged as a result of drone attacks. The regulation provides for payments of up to 500,000 rubles per damaged vehicle and up to a million rubles per destroyed vehicle.

As a reminder, on January 3, Salsk and three districts of Rostov Oblast were attacked by drones. Several private homes were damaged in the village of Semeno-Kamyshenskaya.

On the night of December 18, 2025, three people were killed and six were injured in a drone attack in the Rostov Region. Several private homes were damaged in Bataysk, and two new buildings and a ship in the port were damaged in Rostov-on-Don.

On November 25, 2025, three people were killed and eight were injured in a drone attack in Taganrog and the village of Bessergenevskaya. A 76-year-old Taganrog resident who suffered serious injuries later died in the hospital, bringing the death toll to four.
