A soldier from Kabardino-Balkaria was killed in a military operation.

Azamat Bichekuev from the Elbrus district was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine, authorities have publicly acknowledged at least 359 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria killed there.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by December 26, authorities and security forces officially acknowledged at least 358 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria killed in Ukraine.

The Kabardino-Balkarian branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" Foundation reported on the opening of a Memorial Corner for school graduate Azamat Bichekuev in the village of Bedyk, Elbrus District, on its Telegram channel.

"Azamat died while on duty during a special military operation," the foundation said in a statement.

Details of the soldier's death and his biography were not provided in the statement.

Thus, at least 359 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. "Caucasian Knot" knows the names of 346 of them, while the deaths of another 13 were revealed in a report by the republic's authorities on payments to the families of those killed in 2022.

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially announced by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Statistics of the Central Military District: Losses are growing for the south of Russia".
