People of Kabardino-Balkaria ask Putin to be more active in cutting short anti-Caucasian propaganda

In the context of recent attacks on natives of Kabardino-Balkaria in Moscow, public organizations and political parties of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) sent a letter to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The document, in particular, runs as follows: "The public of Kabardino-Balkaria is expressing its serious concern with recent frequent attacks on citizens of Kabardino-Balkaria accomplished in Moscow and other cities of Russia.

During the latest weeks only, in Moscow three KBR citizens were killed, who by virtue of poor economic situation in their Republic and high unemployment rate had to work in Russian capital. To our great regret, attacks and murders of natives from southern republics of Russia have become a regular phenomenon.

The character of these crimes indicates that they caused by national hostility and enmity.

The recent murders of Kabardino-Balkarian citizens in Moscow have caused indignation in the Republic and provoked broad public resonance. We are seriously afraid that should such facts persist henceforth, it may cause further aggravation of the situation in the Republic, which is not as easy as it is.

We have to state rather painfully that the crimes committed against Russian citizens who originate from the Republics of Northern Caucasus are accompanied by connivance of law enforcement bodies. This sad circumstance is confirmed by the fact that the crimes accomplished in Russian cities on the motive of national hatred too often remain unsolved."
