Security forces reported the detention of Batalkhadzhin residents in three regions.

Members of the Ingush Batalkhadzhin vird have been detained in Moscow, Ingushetia, and Chechnya. A large quantity of ammunition was also seized from them, the FSB announced.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, in February 2023, the FSB included the militant wing of the Ingush vird of Batalkhadzhins in its list of terrorist organizations.

The FSB reported on the raid in three regions today on its website. "In cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian National Guard, the illegal activities of active members of a group consisting of members of the 'Wird Followers of Batal-Khadzhi Belkhoroev's Movement' involved in illegal activities were stopped in Moscow, the Chechen Republic, and the Republic of Ingushetia," the statement reads.

As a result, "a large quantity of firearms, ammunition, and explosives" was seized, the special service stated. "The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District has opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 222.1 (illegal possession of explosive substances and explosive devices) of the Russian Criminal Code. The seized weapons have been sent for forensic examination," the publication notes.

Furthermore, the Southern District Military Court is hearing a criminal case against 12 more members of the Batalhadzhin vird, detained in connection with the murder of Ibrahim Eldzharkiev, the department noted.

Furthermore, on January 16, the Basmanny Court of Moscow remanded in custody Batukhan Tochiyev and Ramazan Padiev, accused in the case of the terrorist attack that resulted in the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant. According to security officials, both natives of Ingushetia are members of the militant wing (designated a terrorist organization) of the Batalkhadzhin vird and provided a rented apartment to Akhmad Kurbanov, an Uzbek citizen accused of murdering the general. The Batalkhadzhin vird is seeking to improve its image under the close scrutiny of security forces, and it is unlikely that its representatives would have decided to participate in the high-profile murder of General Kirillov, analysts noted in January.
