Blogger Markaryan's arrest extended again

A Moscow court extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markaryan, who is accused of insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland, until February 26, 2026.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, on August 25, a Moscow court arrested blogger of Armenian descent Arsen Markaryan, accused of insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. The blogger denied the charge. On September 3, Moscow's Tagansky Court extended the blogger's arrest until November 9.

Moscow's Tagansky District Court has once again extended the arrest of blogger Arsen Markaryan, RIA Novosti reported on December 29, citing the press service of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction.

Markaryan's pretrial detention has been extended by two months, until February 22, 2026, the press service clarified.

Previously, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that, according to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Markaryan was hiding in the trunk of a car stopped near Kubinka, Moscow Region. Detectives have identified the vehicle Markaryan was driving. On Mozhaisk Highway near Kubinka, the car in the trunk of which Markaryan was hiding was stopped by Moscow Region traffic police inspectors. The prosecutor's office also investigated Markaryan's five-hour interview, in which he discussed donations to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the possibility of using drones with the Ukrainian flag.
