A Sochi resident was sentenced to 13 years in prison for treason.

The Krasnodar Regional Court has sentenced a 72-year-old Sochi resident for treason. According to the court, the man voluntarily transmitted information about the situation on the Black Sea coast to Ukrainian intelligence.

According to the investigation and the court, the Sochi resident voluntarily contacted representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in June 2023. He agreed to cooperate and began collecting technical and visual data about the Black Sea coastal areas for Ukrainian intelligence. His illegal activities were discovered and stopped by officers of the FSB Directorate for the Krasnodar Krai.

The defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. The Krasnodar Regional Court found him guilty of treason, the Krasnodar Regional Court press service reported on its Telegram channel.

When sentencing, the court took into account all the circumstances of the case, as well as the convicted man's health. The man was sentenced to 13 years in a maximum-security penal colony, followed by one year of restricted freedom. He was also ordered to pay over 130,000 rubles—the amount he received from his foreign handlers as a reward for espionage.

The sentence has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed, the press service clarified.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the case materials of Kuban pensioners Nikolai Nabiev, Sergei Kuzovenko, and Marina Zakharova, who are accused of creating an illegal armed group, have been received by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don. Nabiev is hospitalized with a third heart attack.
