A resident of Adygea is suspected of preparing a terrorist attack

A criminal case for participation in a terrorist organization and preparation for a terrorist attack has been opened against a 19-year-old resident of the village of Novaya Adygeya.

A 19-year-old resident of the village of Novaya Adygeya is suspected of plotting a terrorist attack, Interfax reports.

According to investigators, the suspect intended to create a cell of an international terrorist organization banned in Russia and recruited residents of Adygea and the Krasnodar Krai. He subsequently planned terrorist attacks at sites with large crowds, the agency reported on December 17, citing the press service of the FSB Directorate for Adygea.

"The case was opened on charges of participation in the activities of a terrorist organizationand in preparation for committing a terrorist act", the department said in a statement.

The " Caucasian Knot " also reported that the Southern District Military Court sentenced 23-year-old Maykop resident Shamil Aliyev to 1.4 years in prison for recruiting a citizen to an international terrorist organization.
