Four airports in southern Russia have been closed due to security threats
The airports of Grozny, Magas, Vladikavkaz, and Makhachkala are closed due to the threat of drone attacks. Six flights are delayed at Makhachkala Airport, and one at Vladikavkaz Airport.
As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," this morning, airports in Sochi, Volgograd, Magas, Grozny, and Vladikavkaz resumed operations . At the Sochi airport, passengers on two flights are waiting for their departures for over 12 hours. The situation with flight delays due to security threats is considered force majeure, but airlines are required to provide passengers with meals and rest areas, according to lawyers.
At 12:13 Moscow time, restrictions on aircraft landings and departures were introduced at Makhachkala Airport due to a security threat, Rosaviatsiya spokesman Artem Korenyako announced today on his Telegram channel.
Similar restrictions were announced at 12:43 Moscow time at the airports of Magas, Vladikavkaz, and Grozny, according to another report.
According to the online flight board at 1:20 p.m. Moscow time, four flights to Moscow, as well as flights to Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg, were delayed at Makhachkala Airport.
A flight to Istanbul was delayed by an hour in Vladikavkaz. No delays were reported at the airports in Grozny and Magas, according to data on the airports' websites.
