Residents of a Dagestani village complained about government inaction
The road in the mountain village of Kulibukhna is in need of repair, and appeals to local officials have yielded no results, village residents complained in a letter to Bastrykin. In 2024, the villagers appealed to Putin, asking him to address the officials' inaction.
As reported by the " Caucasian Knot ," in mid-August 2024, residents of the village of Kulibukhna recorded a video message to Putin , asking him to address the local administration's inaction regarding the restoration of the village road. The villagers stated that since 2021, they had appealed to the village council administration, the district administration, and the prosecutor's office, but had received no assistance.
In 2021, a natural disaster caused by heavy and prolonged rainfall in the village of Kulibukhna resulted in a landslide on an intra-village road. Village residents contacted the administrative authorities and invited the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) to attend. Based on this report, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) specialists carried out minor backfill work to allow temporary passage along the landslide-affected section of the road, according to a statement from the villagers published today by the Telegram channel "Chernovik."
"The work was carried out by village residents, but after repeated appeals to the administrative authorities, we have seen nothing but promises and formal replies," the statement reads.
According to villagers, the road's condition is deteriorating daily. Part of the village is isolated as a result of an ongoing landslide and the subsidence of the road's main mass.
Residents of the part of the village separated by the landslide fear that children attending school may be injured or maimed, as they have to jump over the landslide site when they go to school. They fear that rain, mud, and frost will set in in the coming days, which will only worsen the situation.
"We ask you to 'wake up' the sleeping officials responsible for eliminating the consequences of the landslide," the village residents urged in their statement.
The " Caucasian Knot " also reported that residents of high-mountain villages in Dagestan have repeatedly complained about road problems. For example, in June, the village of Kadani in the village of Tsudakhar was cut off from the outside world after a raging river washed out the road leading to it. Communication problems with the village of Kadani arise regularly, and officials are failing to address them, local residents complained.
