Mansur Khadzhiev was convicted for acquitting Basayev and Khattab

A military court in Moscow sentenced Mansur Khadzhiev to 3.5 years in prison, finding him guilty of justifying the activities of Shamil Basayev, Dzhokhar Dudayev, and Aslan Maskhadov.

Shamil Basayev was a field commander during the First Chechen War, the organizer of the hostage taking in Budyonnovsk, Stavropol Krai, and the leader of the militant invasion of Dagestan in 1999, which marked the beginning of the Second Chechen War. Dzhokhar Dudayev was a major general in the Air Force who led the movement for Chechnya's secession from the Soviet Union and the supreme commander-in-chief during the First Chechen War. Aslan Maskhadov  was a field commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Chechen Armed Forces during the First Chechen War (1994-1996), President of Ichkeria (1997-2005), and head of the Chechen Defense Committee during the Second Chechen War.

Twenty-three-year-old Mansur Khadzhiev was detained in January 2025 in Oryol. He was immediately transferred to the capital, according to data from the Politzek.org project. His case was heard by the Second Western District Military Court in Moscow.

Khadzhiev was charged with publicly calling for terrorist activity and activities against state security via the internet (Articles 205.2 and 280.4 of the Russian Criminal Code). According to the prosecution, in his Telegram channel, he justified "the activities of Khattab, Shamil Basayev, Dzhokhar Dudayev, Aslan Maskhadov, and other supporters of Chechen separatism," TASS reports.

Mansur Khadzhiev, who worked as a loader at a Pyaterochka store in Moscow before his arrest, fully admitted the charges. He explained his posts as a desire to "increase the popularity of his Telegram channel," stating that he does not share the ideology of the aforementioned individuals. The court sentenced him to three years and six months in a general regime penal colony, with one year of restricted freedom and a ban on website administration for two and a half years after his release.

The agency lists Khadzhiev as a native of Chechnya, but Rosfinmonitoring lists him as a native of the Oryol region. His details were added to the list on February 19, according to data from a bot tracking the list's updates.
