Meeting of Expert Council under Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia on issue of law enlightenment

"An increase in the efficiency of law enlightenment on the issues of human rights and freedoms, of forms and methods of their defense" - it was a theme of an enlarged meeting of the Expert Council under the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Oleg Mironov. Chairman of the Open Society Institute V. I. Bakhmin, Commissioner for Child's Rights in Novgorod region N. A. Lisitsina, Board Chairman of the Committee "For Civil Rights" A. V. Babushkin, Council Chairman of the "Youth Center of Human Rights and Law Culture" V. V. Lukhovitsky, Vice President of the Federal Association of Higher Education Institutes of Law Professor S. A. Komarov, and other heads of enlightening public organizations participated in the work.

Meeting participants discussed a plan of preparation of the annual study and enlightening action "Human Rights - Every Day", which is held by the Federal Commissioner's staff at schools and institutes of higher education of Moscow in the first half of September. In closing the Federal Commissioner expressed an initiative to conduct a scientific and practical conference "Russia's Constitution and Human Rights" in each Russian region on the threshold of the 10-th anniversary of Russia's Constitution adoption.

  • SC demands from KBSU documents on legality of Khokonov's dismissal

    The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has begun considering the lawsuit lodged by Murat Khokonov, Professor of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU), concerning his illegal dismissal. The SC has demanded from KBSU bosses the documents confirming the legality of professor's dismissal.
