A court in Dagestan has reduced the sentence of the former head of a comprehensive service center.

The Supreme Court of Dagestan reduced the suspended sentence of the head of a budgetary institution in a case involving the embezzlement of 11 million rubles to 7 years.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on November 18, the Supreme Court of Dagestan sentenced seven defendants to terms ranging from 6 to 17 years in a case involving the embezzlement of 170 million rubles from a state microfinance fund for small and medium-sized businesses.

The Supreme Court of Dagestan sentenced the former director of the state budgetary institution "Integrated Population Service Center" in the Khasavyurt District of the republic in a case involving the embezzlement of 11 million rubles.

It was established that the convicted man, being a member of a criminal organization, took advantage of his official position to artificially inflate the amount of budget appropriations, allocated to controlled social service centers.

"The defendant organized the entry of deliberately false information into the electronic registry of social service recipients regarding citizens allegedly in need of social services at home. Agreements for receiving subsidies were concluded based on these documents," the regional FSB press service said in a statement, cited by TASS.

As a result, the state suffered damages of 11 million rubles.

Initially, the Khasavyurt City Court of Dagestan, taking into account full compensation for the damage caused, sentenced the man to a suspended sentence of 8 years and 3 months, with a probationary period of 5 years. However, the Supreme Court of the Republic, in its appellate ruling, reduced the sentence to a suspended sentence of 7 years, Interfax reports.
