Over 20 persons detained on suspicion of taking part in mass disorders in Ingushetia

According to the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic Ingushetia, currently, the law enforcement bodies of the Republic keep detained over 20 persons suspected of involvement in mass disorders in Nazran.

This was told today in an interview to local TV by Yuri Turygin, Republic's Prosecutor. The text of his statement was promulgated by the press service of the Office.

According to his version, most of the detainees are 14-16 years old. He added that a check is now conducted on applications received from journalists of regional and federal mass media.

Mr Turygin has also noted in his interview that, despite the warning of the Prosecutor's Office about inadmissibility of breaking the law, today, more than 50 persons have organized mass disorders in the Concord Square in the centre of Nazran. They threw stones and petrol bottles at the militiamen, "who were guarding the public order during the counterterrorist operation in the mini-park near the Square."

Moreover, according to the Public Prosecutor, the protesters made an attempt to set the "Assa" Hotel on fire, as well as the premises of the Ingush Republic's Clinical Hospital and the building where the editorial office of the "Serdalo" newspaper is located. As a result, the above objects were essentially damaged.
