Property of "Imedi" TV Company arrested in Georgia

Court of Tbilisi has seized the property of the "Imedi" TV Company, where businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili is the founder, and which had planned to restart broadcasting since January 28.

The press service of the Court has informed that "an official statement on this fact will be made later."

Shalva Shavgulidze, "Imedi" advocate, told the RIA "Novosti" that there was no official order to arrest the property of the television broadcaster, but he possessed reliable information from the City Court on the issue.

"They want to arrest 100% of Company's stock. Besides, according to my sources, they've also arrested the property of two companies - "I-Media" and "JMT Consulting Group. I don't know now what the business of these companies is," Mr Shavgulidze said.

We remind you that Shalva Shavgulidze, advocate of businessman Arkadiy (Badri) Patarkatsishvili, on January 17 lodged a protest against arrest of his client.

On January 16, the Court of the capital of Georgia sentenced Patarkatsishvili in absentia to two months of pre-trial custody, Radio Liberty reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" already informed that on January 10 the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia accused Patarkatsishvili of conspiracy with the aim to overthrow the constitutional order, of attack preparation against a political figure and of preparing an act of terrorism.

On that very day, the Tbilisi Court passed a decision on arresting Mr Patarkatsishvili's personal account at the "Standardbank". In the opinion of Deputy Mziya Totladze, Badri Patarkatsishvili's sister, the situation around her brother develops in such a manner that arrest of all his property in the country is possible.
