A complaint against the arrest of former Rostov-on-Don Mayor Alexey Logvinenko has been filed with the Rostov Regional Court.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," a court in Rostov-on-Don remanded former city administration head Alexey Logvinenko into custody for two months on suspicion of abuse of office.

Rostov-on-Don Mayor Alexey Logvinenko resigned in January. Local residents gathered outside City Hall, outraged at being barred from the hearing. The atmosphere at the entrance to City Hall became tense, and police arrived at the building. Logvinenko explained that he was leaving due to health reasons and a new job.

The defense of Alexei Logvinenko, the former head of the Rostov-on-Don administration, who is suspected of abuse of power, has appealed the decision to arrest him, a representative of the unified press service of the courts of the Rostov region told reporters.

"Logvinenko's defense has filed an appeal against the ruling of the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don dated October 24, 2025, on the selection of a preventive measure," RIA Novosti quoted a court representative as saying.

The Rostov Regional Court will hear the appeal at 2:00 PM Moscow time on October 31.

As a reminder, in December 2021, the city manager Rostov-on-Don resident Alexey Logvinenko posted retouched photos from his trip to Grozny on Instagram*, removing his expensive wristwatch. The city administration explained that Logvinenko edited the photos out of modesty, but social media users met the mayor's new posts with ironic comments.
