Tbilisi Court refuses to cancel the election outcomes

The Tbilisi City Court has rejected the claims of oppositional parties who demanded to annul the final protocol of the CEC (Central Electoral Commission) of Georgia on January 5 election because of mass-scale falsifications.

The City Court has informed that all the suits were united into one case and after its consideration the judges have recognized that in the process of tabulating the ballot papers the CEC had not broken any rules and all the complaints are groundless, the "Interfax" reports.

Meanwhile, Kakha Dzaganiya, one of the leaders of the Labour Party, told journalists that "this sort of verdict could have been expected, since Georgia has no independent judiciary." "Therefore, the struggle against the anti-popular regime will go on," Mr Dzaganiya has added.

It was reported earlier that the claims demanding to cancel the election outcomes in eight electoral constituencies in the south and east of Georgia were lodged by representatives of the leader of Labour Party Shalva Natelashvili and businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili.

"These constituencies witnessed mass falsifications of voting results, and once cancelled, these results would affect the grand totals of the election," stated the representatives of the National Board of the Opposition who had also lodged a suit on behalf of the "Freedom" Political Movement.
