The task force reported on the readiness of Anapa beaches for the storm.

23 kilometers of protective embankments have been installed in Anapa, and work is nearing completion on covering them with polypropylene nets. The storm dumped mostly trash overnight, the task force reported, amid the threat of a large oil spill on the shore.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," environmental activists have begun cleaning up oil spills found on the seashore in Anapa and the Temryuk district. Authorities have brought in local administration employees for the work. On the morning of October 24, volunteers from the "Dolphins" headquarters discovered oil spills in the village of Veselovka in the Temryuk district, on the Bugaz Spit, and in the Anapa village of Blagoveshchenskaya. Blogger Yuri Ozarovsky also confirmed reports of coastal contamination in Blagoveshchenskaya. A rescue team from the Rostov and Krasnodar regions arrived in Anapa following reports of a drifting fuel oil slick. Emergency Ministry personnel are restoring protective embankments on the coast. By the evening of October 25, 20 kilometers of embankments had been erected, with ditches dug in front of them. The Emergency Ministry warned of an impending storm, expected to last until October 29.

Over the course of four days, from October 22 to 26, work on the construction of a 14-kilometer protective embankment from Lechebny Beach to Vityazevo along the main beaches in Anapa was fully completed. The securing of polypropylene nets is now in the final stage. A total of 23 kilometers of protective embankment have been constructed along the coast in Anapa, on the spit between the village of Vityazevo and the village of Blagoveshchenskaya, and in the village of Veselovka along Lake Solenoye, the Krasnodar Krai task force reported.

"The protective structures withstood the overnight storm. Most of what washed up was plastic debris and tree fragments. Several weak points in the ditch structure were identified and are being quickly reinforced," the statement said.
 
Nikolay Zalivin, director of Anapa Resorts LLC, reported that protective netting is being laid in the last two sections: near the mouth of the Mozhepsin River (about 500 m) and at the end of the Vityazevo beaches (about 1 kilometer). Coastline conditions are monitored three times a day: at 5:00, 8:00, and 12:00 Moscow time.

As a reminder, in mid-October, volunteers and bloggers reported fuel oil spills following a storm in Anapa and the Temryuk district. The regional task force reported that the fuel oil spills were insignificant. Environmentalists stated that large-scale coastal cleanups must resume.

On December 15, 2024, two tankers carrying fuel oil sank in the Kerch Strait. A crew member from one of the tankers died as a result. In addition, an oil spill occurred, leading to catastrophic environmental consequences, according to the Caucasian Knot report "Fuel Oil Spill in the Kerch Strait".
