A coach from Dagestan has become the subject of a second criminal case.

A criminal case for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization has been opened against Akhmed Akhmedov, the former coach of the Dagestan national kickboxing team, who is participating in military operations on the side of Ukraine and is already a defendant in a treason case.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, in November 2023 it became known that security forces, as part of the case, have declared Akhmed Akhmedov, the former head coach of the Dagestan national kickboxing team, wanted. He is participating in military operations in a Ukrainian unit.

A criminal case for participation in the activities of a terrorist organization has been opened against a Russian citizen for participating in an armed conflict against the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported, citing the press service of the FSB Directorate for Dagestan.

"The Investigative Department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 205.5 (organizing the activities of a terrorist organization and participating in the activities of such an organization)," the FSB reported.

According to investigators, the suspect shares a separatist ideology and is opposed to the reunification of Crimea with Russia, the self-determination of new regions of the Russian Federation, and the decision to conduct a special military operation. In February 2022, he voluntarily joined the Imam Shamil Battalion*. "From the moment he joined until the present, the suspect continues to participate in combat operations against the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian territory as part of the aforementioned terrorist organization," the department added.

An agency source in law enforcement agencies clarified that the suspect in question is Akhmed Akhmedov, the former head coach of the Dagestan national kickboxing team.

It was previously reported that Akhmed Akhmedov served as the director of a children's and youth sports school in the Kizlyar district and as the head coach of the republic's full-contact kickboxing team. Among his students are Russian, European, and world champions, the agency writes.
