Stavropol Children's Ombudsman Adamenko has been sanctioned by the European Union.

An official already on Canada's sanctions list is accused of transporting Ukrainian children to Russia.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in 2023, the children's rights ombudsman for Dagestan, Marina Yezhova, as well as her colleague from Stavropol Krai, Svetlana Adamenko, were placed under Canadian sanctions.

As part of the 19th package of sanctions against Russia, the European Union imposed restrictions on the children's rights ombudsmen for Stavropol Krai, Oryol Oblast, and Novosibirsk Oblast: Svetlana Adamenko, Konstantin Domogatsky, and Nadezhda Boltenko. This follows from a document published in the EU's official journal, which claims officials are involved "in the illegal transportation of Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation" and organizing vacations in Russia for children from areas affected by military action.

Svetlana Adamenko stated that EU sanctions will not affect her work. "I have always defended and will continue to defend children and their right to a dignified life and safety," TASS quotes her as saying.

The agency cites data from the Stavropol Ministry of Education, which shows that in 2025, more than 770 children from the Belgorod region and more than 520 children from the Luhansk region vacationed in the region.
