A Stavropol resident was sentenced to 15 years in prison for treason.

The Stavropol Regional Court sentenced a Budyonnovsk resident for treason. According to the court, the man transmitted data on strategic facilities to representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

According to the regional FSB, in 2023, the defendant contacted Ukrainian intelligence agencies to assist in undermining Russia's security. He collected data on military installations, security facilities, and critical infrastructure facilities located in the Budyonnovsk District. The man sent the information to his handler via an online messenger.

"Based on the results of operational-search activities, the Investigative Department of the FSB Directorate for Stavropol Krai opened and investigated a criminal case against the citizen under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (High Treason) 1 ," the press service of the FSB Directorate for the Investigative Committee reported.

Considering the position of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced the man to 15 years' imprisonment, to be served in a maximum-security penal colony with two years' restricted freedom. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force, the Stavropol Krai Prosecutor's Office reported on its website.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that a Stavropol resident, whom the court found guilty of treason, illegal trafficking of explosives, and an attempted terrorist attack, was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
