Imran Aliyev's relatives reported that he was denied medical care.

Imran Aliyev, head of the online platform Meclis.info, experienced severe pain, but the Baku pretrial detention center administration ignored requests for a transfer to a prison hospital.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," journalist and head of the website Meclis.info, Imran Aliyev, was detained on April 18, 2024. He was charged with smuggling. On March 7, it was reported that activist Elgiz Gahraman (Gahramanov) had also been charged in Aliyev's case. He has pleaded not guilty. Following the investigation, Aliyev and Gahraman were charged with eight criminal offenses, including illegal entrepreneurship, money laundering, smuggling as part of an organized group, tax evasion, and document forgery. Aliyev faces up to 12 years in prison.

Imran Aliyev's back and joint pain, which he experienced during his arrest, has worsened, the journalist's father, Baghir Aliyev, told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Prolonged detention and the protracted trial are negatively impacting both Imran Aliyev's physical and psychological state. He has been languishing in prison for a year and a half. Court hearings are also periodically postponed. On the eve of the hearing, which was scheduled for October 14, Imran was told that there would be no hearing. However, the next day, literally half an hour before the hearing, he was taken to court. Imran said his body ached and he couldn't travel. But without even allowing him to put on shoes, he was forcibly dragged into court in his shoes. This completely infuriated him and caused a nervous breakdown," he noted. Aliyev.

According to the activist's father, Imran Aliyev is being denied medical examination and treatment, despite repeated requests to transfer him to the prison hospital. The next court hearing is scheduled for November 4.
