A Kuban security official accused of accepting bribes from Baza employees has been placed under house arrest.

A Moscow court has placed Alexander Ablaev, the head of the duty unit of the Krasnodar Department of Internal Affairs, and two of his colleagues from Belgorod and Krasnoyarsk, under house arrest for two months. They are accused of accepting bribes from journalists of the Telegram channel "Baza".

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, on July 22, security forces conducted a search of the office of the Telegram channel "Baza". Editor-in-chief Gleb Trifonov was brought in for questioning, and later arrested in connection with a bribery case involving a group of individuals. Searches in connection with the case of police officers transmitting information for publication on a Telegram channel were conducted, among other places, in the Krasnodar Krai. Police officers in Kuban and two other Russian regions were arrested for passing information to "Baza" employees. Krasnodar Police Department duty officer Alexander Ablaev admitted to accepting a bribe from Baza reporters and announced his intention to testify.

On October 17, Moscow's Zamoskvoretsky District Court placed Alexander Ablaev, the duty officer of the Krasnodar Police Department, as well as Alexander Selivanov, a senior detective with the Belgorod police department, and Sergei Kovalev, a detective with the Krasnoyarsk police criminal investigation department, under house arrest. They are accused of accepting bribes from journalists from the Baza Telegram channel, Kommersant reports.

All the officers pleaded guilty and will remain under house arrest for two months.
