A suspect in the murder of two pastors in the North Caucasus Federal District has been detained.

Police have detained a suspect in the contract killing of two pastors, for which he was willing to pay one million rubles. The resident of the North Caucasus Federal District has pleaded guilty.

The arrest of a man suspected of organizing the contract killing of two pastors was announced by Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson Irina Volk, according to the TASS news agency.

According to law enforcement, the former Christian parishioner intended to pay one million rubles for the murder of the two pastors. As a deposit, the detainee transferred 30,000 rubles to the alleged killer. Law enforcement officers staged the murder of one of the victims. After the "order was carried out," the initiator was provided with photographs as evidence, Kommersant reports.

"The suspect has been detained. A criminal case has been opened against him under Articles 30, 33, and 105 of the Russian Criminal Code 1 . He has been remanded in custody," Irina Volk wrote on her Telegram channel.

"He was detained on suspicion of organizing the murder of religious figures. The motive and reasons are personal, I admit my guilt and am ready to face punishment," the detainee said in a video published by an official spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The region in which the suspect was detained was not specified in the statement.
