The sentence against former Kuban judge Grachev was upheld.

The cassation court upheld the sentence of former Temryuk District Court judge Pavel Grachev, who was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for bribery and knowingly issuing an unjust decision. The sentence for the second defendant in the case, Isa Pliev, was also affirmed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," in June 2019 it became known that Temryuk District Court judge Pavel Grachev is suspected of accepting a bribe and issuing a knowingly unjust sentence, decision, or other judicial act. In July 2024, Grachev was sentenced to 8.5 years in a maximum-security penal colony.

The Court of Cassation upheld the sentence of Pavel Grachev, former judge of the Temryuk District Court of Krasnodar Krai, and businessman Isa Pliev, Kommersant reported on October 2.

Grachev and Pliev's defense team appealed the sentence, first on appeal and then on cassation. The appeal upheld the sentence, and the Fourth Cassation Court in Krasnodar subsequently made a similar decision.

According to Grachev's lawyer, Roman Yanshin, the sentence was based on testimony given during the investigation by a suspect who died before the trial. The defense believes he had motives to incriminate Grachev, as he was being investigated for a criminal case and was seeking to avoid responsibility. In addition, Yanshin alleged numerous violations committed during the trial in the Proletarsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don.

Pliev's lawyer, Sergei Tolmachenko, also alleged violations during the trial and the lack of sufficient evidence of his client's guilt.
