24 flights were delayed at Sochi Airport due to flight restrictions in effect overnight, with three flights diverted to alternate airfields.

The departures of 24 flights were delayed at Sochi International Airport due to restrictions introduced last night to ensure the safety of civil aircraft, according to the airport's Telegram channel.

"Sochi Airport is operating according to its actual schedule. Currently, 24 flights have been delayed. Three aircraft that diverted to alternate airfields have arrived in Sochi and will be processed in order of priority and sent to their destination cities," the statement reads.

Efforts are being made in cooperation with partner airlines to ensure the prompt departure of the delayed flights. Thus, the airport administration noted that Aeroflot has agreed to replace the aircraft types with wide-body aircraft for passenger transport.

The statement also stated that during the restrictions, airport staff "placed parents with children in a separate room and provided mattresses and blankets for sleeping." "They provided additional seating and distributed mats for comfortable passenger accommodation in the terminal."
