Protesters on Rustaveli Avenue expressed support for Gele Hasai.

The "Girchi - More Freedom" activist arrested in Tbilisi was a participant in daily protests on Rustaveli Avenue. Those gathered near parliament on the 307th day of continuous protests demanded his release.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, today it became known that security forces in Tbilisi suspect Gela Khasaya, an activist from the "Girchi - More Freedom" party, of beating a person. This charge carries up to three years in prison. In April 2024, Gela Khasaya, detained at a protest against the law on foreign agents, was fined by the court 2,600 lari (approximately $930). Khasay was found guilty of petty hooliganism and disobeying police orders.

This evening, for the 307th consecutive evening, Georgian citizens gathered outside the Parliament building and blocked traffic on Rustaveli Avenue, protesting the Georgian Dream party's decision to end negotiations on joining the European Union. Those gathered are making unwavering demands: calling new elections and releasing all those detained during the protests.

The activists expressed support for Gela Hasaya, a party member arrested on charges of intentionally causing minor bodily harm. They emphasized that the protests will continue until their demands are met, InterPressNews reports.

"We will continue the struggle until victory. Gela Hasaya and other prisoners of conscience will definitely be released," Publika quotes the protesters' joint statement.

The protesters noted that Gela Hasaya had been with them on Rustaveli Avenue near the parliament building every day before his arrest. Khasaya denies guilt and said he was subjected to psychological pressure from police officers, according to Pirveli TV, citing his lawyer, Irakli Chomakhashvili.

The third issue of the newspaper "Voice of Freedom from Prison," which publishes letters from Georgian political prisoners, was presented at a protest outside parliament today.
