Fines for publishing the aftermath of drone attacks are being introduced in North Ossetia.

North Ossetia is banning the publication of photographs and videos showing the aftermath of drone attacks in the media and social media. This includes photos and videos showing drone overflights, air defense operations, and the aftermath of attacks.

As reported by Caucasian Knot, a decree banning the use of unmanned civilian aircraft in the skies over North Ossetia was adopted in mid-January 2023. The decision to ban the use of drones was made due to safety requirements.

The bill was initiated by the head of the region, Sergei Menyailo. Members of the republic's parliament have already approved the corresponding amendments to the law on administrative liability, according to Region15.ru.

Materials published by decision of government agencies are an exception. Disseminating information about the location of military installations, critical infrastructure, and law enforcement is prohibited. Violations are punishable by fines of 3,000 to 5,000 rubles for individuals, 30,000 to 50,000 rubles for officials, and 100,000 to 200,000 rubles for legal entities. Repeat violations will result in larger fines, the publication clarifies.

Previously, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that lawyers pointed out that the ban on filming drone attacks contradicts the Constitution. Banks in filming drone attacks and their consequences, introduced in the Volgograd, Rostov, and Astrakhan regions, as well as in Kalmykia, Adygea, and North Ossetia,  contradict the provisions enshrined in the Constitution guaranteeing the inadmissibility of censorship and the freedom to seek, record, and disseminate information.
