Power engineers have restored electricity supply to the homes of residents of 54 villages in eight districts of Dagestan.

The electricity supply to residents of eight villages was restored on the evening of September 12, the Emergencies Ministry Department for Dagestan reported on its website. "Power supply has been restored in 8 municipal districts (Botlikhsky, Sergokalinsky, Untsukulsky, Rutulsky, Kaytagsky, Magaramkentsky, Khivsky, Suleiman-Stalsky districts)," the department reported succinctly.

Power outages cause irreparable losses for businesses in Dagestan

On July 25, residents of Makhachkala complained to the "Caucasian Knot" about regular power outages. According to them, there is sometimes no power for several hours or even several days. An employee of "Dagenergo" said that sometimes tens of thousands of people in the city are left without power at the same time. "There are not enough people to quickly fix the accidents, teams are traveling from one location to another. The old networks cannot withstand the loads," he explained.

The head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov admitted in July that the energy supply system in the republic "is operating at the limit," and "our networks are not ready for such loads." At the same time, the official noted the inefficiency and sluggishness of the authorities. "I have repeatedly raised the issue of our energy complex at the federal level, including proposing to begin implementing a comprehensive program for the development of the region's energy system. All these decisions are being made, but not as quickly as we would all like. And although it is difficult to see the results of the enormous work that is being done, they are there," he said.
