Authorities explained the failure to supply water to Buinaksk by worsening weather

The resumption of water supply in Buinaksk is scheduled for the morning of September 12, the repair deadlines were delayed due to heavy rains, the government of Dagestan reported. Telegram users reported that in some areas of the city, water is flowing, but of very poor quality.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, the water supply to Buinaksk was stopped on September 9 due to an accident in the water supply networks. Residents of more than 15 streets and several villages, as well as six kindergartens and three schools, were left without water. The water supply to Buinaksk will be fully resumed by the morning of September 12, the government of Dagestan promised today.

The State Unitary Enterprise "Dagvodokanal" continues emergency restoration work on the "Chirkey-Buinaksk" water pipeline; repair work is planned to be completed by the evening of today, the First Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Dagestan Ismail Shikhsaidov reported at a meeting of the headquarters for the preparation of housing and communal services facilities.

"On September 9, the facility was promptly provided with the necessary materials and equipment. A work team of 10 people and four units of equipment, including 2 excavators and 2 cranes, began restoration work. Yesterday, the work was carried out all day. Due to the deterioration of weather conditions, they were temporarily suspended, and were resumed at night. This morning, the water utility reported that the work was in full swing. The work will be completed by the evening," he said.

Acting Svetlana Bagrova, acting CEO of JSC "Unified Operator RD", added that the reservoirs will be filled in the evening, and hyperchlorination is also planned to prevent pollution and infection. The city will be fully supplied with water tomorrow morning, the Dagestan government's Telegram channel stated.

Commentators on the Buinaksk administration's Telegram channel were outraged by the lack of water. The post asking city residents to report problems had garnered 17 comments by 1:28 p.m.

"By what right do water utility dispatchers disconnect the phone? Where are people supposed to get information from?" Marina Magomedova wrote.

"Does the administration even know what kind of water is supplied to the city? It's all black," she added, saying that she lives on Dakhadaev Street.

In June, there were long interruptions in the water supply in Buinaksk, at that time the problems were explained by a breakdown of the pump at the Chirkey-Buinaksk pumping station. Residents, who had to buy water for more than a week, complained that the water supply is interrupted regularly against the backdrop of promises from the authorities to solve the problem, and the water supply is organized poorly.

"Kavkazsky Uzel" also wrote that at the beginning of June 2024, at least 228 people were hospitalized in Buinaksk after mass poisoning. On June 11, the Rospotrebnadzor Administration announced that tap water was the source of mass infection of the city's residents, and several intestinal infections: dysentery, norovirus and rotavirus. Mass poisonings in the city are occurring against the backdrop of sewage discharge into worn-out water supply networks and illegal taps into the water supply system, Dagestani specialists indicated. In March, the case of the former acting director of Buinakskvodokanal was transferred to court.
