Investigators linked the attack on a security officer in Magas to his former job

A group of armed men used violence against a resident of Magas, who previously worked in the internal affairs agencies. The incident is being investigated under the article on the use of violence against a government official.

The incident, information about which was spread on social networks, occurred on September 9.

At least ten unknown individuals with weapons “used violence that was not dangerous to life and health against a local resident,” according to a message on the official Telegram channel of the republican Investigative Committee on September 10.

Investigators indicate that the victim is a former security officer. They assume that the attack is related “to the performance of his official duties during his service.” A pre-investigation check in connection with the incident is being conducted under the article on the use of non-life-threatening violence against a government official (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for up to five years in prison).

The official statement from the department does not contain information about the detention of suspects, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported several hours later that two participants in the attack were identified and taken to the department. The victim contacted law enforcement agencies, stating that “several people attacked him, forcing him to use a traumatic weapon in self-defense.” “In response, one of the attackers also fired several times in his direction from a traumatic pistol, after which they fled the scene,” the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia reports.

The object of the attack was a 41-year-old former criminal investigation officer, the Telegram channel “Sapa” reports. The conflict occurred in the area of Gagiev and Chakhkiev streets in Magas during the daytime. A video from the scene of the incident shows how 9-10 people approached a man in military uniform in a parking lot, surrounding him. The man in uniform pulled out a traumatic pistol and started shooting, the attackers scattered to the sides, but one of them also pulled out a weapon and fired several times in the direction of the man in camouflage.

The former Interior Ministry employee who is wearing a military uniform in the video is Bashir Aushev, in the past he detained one of the attackers and opened a criminal case against him, for which the latter “decided to get even,” writes Fortanga, citing its own source in law enforcement agencies. According to the publication, Aushev was waylaid near his home and beaten before the shootout began.
