Residents of Buinaksk complained about the lack of water supply

There has been no water in part of Buinaksk since September 9, but residents of the streets left without water supply were unable to take advantage of the water delivery promised by the authorities, since the water truck schedule has not yet been published.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, the water supply to Buinaksk was stopped on September 9 due to an accident on the water supply networks. Residents of more than 15 streets and several villages, as well as six kindergartens and three schools, were left without water.

On September 10, the Buinaksk administration reported on its Telegram channel that due to a leak in the water main, specialists from the State Unitary Enterprise "Dagvodokanal" are carrying out emergency restoration work, and water supply to a number of areas of the city is limited.

"During the period of absence of water supply, water is delivered to socially significant facilities, as well as to residents of the city, by water trucks. According to experts, the estimated completion date of the work is September 11," the publication says.

The schedule for water delivery along the city streets has not been published on the city hall website or on the Telegram channel page as of 16:00 Moscow time on September 10.

There has been no water since September 9, a Buinaksk resident living on Gogoleva Street, Arsen, told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "I have not seen water delivery on our street. We have to buy bottled water. Today, September 10, there was a heavy downpour in the city, the streets were flooded, it was impossible to get to the store on time," the man said.

"There has been no water since September 9. The water delivery schedule was not found anywhere. "The children need to wash their clothes and cook food before school, but there is no water," said Maryam.

"We have a large container for storing water in our private house, thanks to this we are saved. They did not send the child to kindergarten, they said there is no water there. "It's better for him to stay at home, we're afraid he'll catch some kind of infection," Aminat, who lives on Chkalova Street, told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

All the city residents interviewed reported that after long interruptions in water supply in June, the water supply was not fully normalized,
interruptions in water supply, for example, weak pressure, occurred regularly.

In June, there were long interruptions in water supply in Buinaksk, at that time the problems were explained by a breakdown of the pump at the Chirkey-Buinaksk pumping station. City residents who had to buy water for more than a week, complained that the water supply is interrupted regularly against the backdrop of promises from the authorities to solve the problem, and the water delivery is organized poorly.

"Caucasian Knot" also wrote that at the beginning of June 2024, at least 228 people were hospitalized in Buinaksk after mass poisoning. On June 11, the Rospotrebnadzor Administration announced that tap water was the source of mass infection of city residents, and six of the sick people were found to have several intestinal infections: dysentery, norovirus, and rotavirus. Mass poisonings in the city are occurring against the backdrop of sewage entering worn-out water supply networks and illegal taps into the water supply system, Dagestani specialists indicated. In March, the case of the former acting director of Buinakskvodokanal was transferred to court.
