State of emergency lifted in Tyrnyauz after mudflow

The regional state of emergency, which was in effect in Tyrnyauz from July 22 due to the descent of large mudflows, is cancelled from the morning of September 10.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on July 22 a mudflow damaged the bridge supports on the federal highway leading to the Elbrus resort, a state of emergency was declared in the Elbrus district. Some residents of Tyrnyauz were evacuated, several dozen people were in a temporary accommodation point on July 22 and 23. On July 31 a powerful mudflow came down in Tyrnyauz, the authorities announced the evacuation of residents of several microdistricts, many residents were left without water, electricity and gas. The restoration of communications and clearing of roads continued until August 24, when the head of the republic announced that these works were completed and restoration of the mudflow system had begun.

The state of emergency that had been in effect in Tyrnyauz since July 22 due to large mudflows will cease to be in effect on the morning of September 10. The corresponding document was signed by the head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov.

The cancellation of the state of emergency is connected with the completion of urgent emergency recovery work, the need for which was caused by the mudflows along the Gerkhozhan-Suu River, TASS reported on September 9.

"Cancel the regional emergency situation regime <…> on the territory of the urban settlement of Tyrnyauz from 09:00 (Moscow time) on September 10, 2025," Kokov's order says.

"Kavkazsky Uzel" also wrote that elderly residents of Tyrnyauz began repairing the pedestrian bridge across the river in early September. The mayor's office limited itself to praising the initiative and promising to install lighting on the bridge.
