Volgograd resident fined for inciting hatred towards police

A court in Volgograd fined a local resident who wrote offensive comments about police officers on social networks.

Police officers in Volgograd detained a 38-year-old local resident who allegedly humiliated the dignity of employees of the internal affairs bodies.

During monitoring of social networks, security forces found several comments to posts about the activities of the police, in which the aforementioned citizen "made statements that negatively assessed police officers," the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region reported on September 8.

After the arrest, the man repented and brought his apologies. The court found him guilty of committing eight administrative offenses under Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity). As a result, he must pay administrative fines of 10 thousand rubles for each offense.

In a nine-second video that was published on the department's Telegram channel, a man with a blurred face says that he was detained for insulting police officers in comments on the social network "VKontakte". "I repent, I ask for forgiveness. I promise not to do this again," he says, not very convincingly.

Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" wrote that in July, Volzhsky resident Aleksandr-Mirodar Zhernovnikov was sentenced to a year and a month of forced labor for he was found guilty of inciting hatred due to comments on a social network.
