Almost 900 trucks and passengers are awaiting permission to leave Russia for Georgia via the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, by April 20 the number of trucks stuck in traffic at the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint was approaching five thousand, by May 11 the queue had dropped to almost 600 vehicles.

"Almost 900 trucks have formed a queue on the Georgian Military Highway in North Ossetia," the region's Deputy Prime Minister Irbek Tomayev said at a staff meeting on Monday. "895 trucks are waiting to pass through the "Verkhniy Lars" checkpoint, 530 of which are in specialized parking lots," the official said.
