A square in Kaspiysk was named after Stalin

Stalin supported the initiative to create the plant around which Kaspiysk grew, representatives of the Dagdizel plant said at the ceremony of naming the square of the Dagdizel plant after Stalin. The decision on this was approved by the city authorities.

The central square in front of the Dagdizel plant is now named after Joseph Stalin, the Kaspiysk administration reported.

At the opening, a report from which was prepared by the Sreda TV channel, Deputy Deputy General Director Ruslan Kasumov emphasized that this decision is a tribute to Stalin's role in the creation and development of the plant. "Today our plant has the honor of opening a memorial plaque to a bright historical figure who went down in the history of the country and world history, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin. It was Stalin who supported the initiative to create Plant No. 182 on the territory where we are located today. If it were not for this plant, there would be no city and, accordingly, there would be no us," he noted.

The plaque with the portrait of the "leader of the people" indicates that the decision to name the square after Stalin was made by the resolution of the administration of the urban district of Kaspiysk dated 03/25/25, as follows from the video dated September 5.

Recall that on April 29, 2021, a bust of Joseph Stalin on a pedestal was installed in Dagestanskiye Ogni. On May 2, it became known that the bust, along with the plaque, was dismantled - only an empty pedestal remained in the place where the monument was installed. The head of the city, Jalalutdin Alirzayev, reported that the bust of Stalin was dismantled because it was installed by local communists without permission from the authorities.

The communists who installed the bust of Stalin showed disrespect to the repressed peoples of the Caucasus, Internet users said at the time. Their opponents, in turn, recalled Stalin's role during the war.

Recall that in 2022, historian and member of the Association of Russian Society Researchers Boris Sokolov told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the decision on which peoples to repress depended directly on Stalin.
