Deceived equity holders detained during picket in Adygea

Police officers held three picketers in the department for six hours and threatened them with criminal prosecution, but eventually released them without a report, shareholders of the U Megi housing cooperative said.

A group of shareholders from Adygea organized a series of single pickets on September 3. They were unhappy with the statement by the head of the republic, Marat Kumpilov, that there were allegedly no defrauded shareholders in the region.

The participants in the action bought apartments in the U Megi housing cooperative in 2017–2019, but the houses were never completed because the developer went bankrupt. According to the activists, they went out on single pickets, keeping the required distance - more than 50 meters between picketers with posters, writes the Telegram channel “Beware, News”.

"Kumpilov lied to the Russian president that there are no defrauded equity holders in Adygea. We are the Housing Cooperative "U Mega", and we exist!" - this phrase, divided into three parts, was on three posters. According to the protesters, the police tore up one poster when they were detained. They were taken to the police station, where they were "pressured and intimidated", threatening to deprive them of their freedom for eight years, notes the human rights project OVD-Info (included in the register of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation).

The security forces threatened to take away the car of one of the picketers, because there were banners in his car. They filmed the dialogue about this with one of the police officers on video - the police officer states that he intends to "confiscate" the banners from the closed car, without explaining on what basis he intends to carry out these procedural actions.

The activists were held at the station for six hours and then released without any reports being drawn up.
