Tourist from Moscow injured in rockfall on Elbrus

Rescuers evacuated a tourist from Moscow from Elbrus who was injured during a rockfall.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, the former president of the Kuban Mountaineering Federation Alexander Rastorguev died on August 27 while climbing Mount Dzhangi-Tau in Kabardino-Balkaria, having been caught in a rockfall. Another participant in the climb was injured, and rescuers evacuated her to Nalchik. The body of the deceased climber was evacuated from the mountain two days later, on August 29.

Employees of the Elbrus high-mountain search and rescue team evacuated a tourist from the slope of Elbrus who was injured during a rockfall. The group of eight people, which included the injured woman, did not register their ascent.

The incident occurred in the area of Pastukhova Rocks at an altitude of 4,600 meters. As a result of the falling rock, the 35-year-old woman was injured, after which the group requested help from rescuers, the Kabardino-Balkaria Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

The injured tourist, who came to Kabardino-Balkaria from Moscow, was evacuated by rescuers to the Azau glade and handed over to a medical team. The department does not provide information about the woman's condition or the nature of her injuries.
