Security forces report on suppression of terrorist attack at Vladikavkaz airport

A man who planned to set fire to an airplane on the territory of the Vladikavkaz airport has been detained; a case of attempted terrorist attack is being investigated, the FSB said.

A criminal case has been opened against a 25-year-old Russian citizen who is suspected of preparing a terrorist attack at the Vladikavkaz international airport, Interfax reported.

"The illegal activity of a 25-year-old Russian citizen who planned to commit a terrorist attack on the territory of the Vladikavkaz international airport by setting fire to an aircraft has been stopped. "As a result of operational and investigative measures, it was established that the suspect regularly visited Ukrainian radical Telegram channels about the torture and murder of Russian military personnel. In carrying out his criminal intentions, the suspect purchased a special pyrotechnic product and also persuaded an employee of the airport's aviation security service to participate in sabotage and terrorist activities," the agency quoted the press service of the UFSB for North Ossetia as saying.

Criminal cases have been opened against the suspect for attempted terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205) and assistance to terrorism (Part 1.1 of Article 205.1). The man is in custody.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, in July, two 15-year-old residents of North Ossetia were taken into custody, accused of undergoing terrorist training and preparing an attack on security forces using an explosive device. According to the FSB, the teenagers were detained in Mozdok, and components for the homemade production of explosives were found during a search.
