Another protester sentenced in Tbilisi

Judge Georgiy Arevadze sentenced "prisoner of conscience" Archil Museliants to 4 years in prison.

Archil Museliants, arrested during the protests and accused of intentionally damaging the power supply to cameras installed on a pole in front of the parliament building and setting them on fire, was found guilty by the court and sentenced to 4 years in prison, the Georgian News Agency reports.

Before the verdict was announced, lawyer Dimitri Vardiashvili made a closing statement. He questioned the findings of the prosecutor's investigation. In addition, the lawyer drew attention to the fact that Museliants was initially detained administratively, and after the 48-hour detention period expired, he was charged under the Criminal Code. According to Dimitri Vardiashvili, investigative actions were carried out before the charges were brought, and the case was “sewn up with white thread,” Netgazeti reports.

Archil Museliants was arrested on November 30, 2024. Initially, he was arrested under the article on an administrative offense, but later this offense was reclassified as a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 1871, which provides for the intentional damage or destruction of someone else's property, writes "Tvpirveli"

Note that since November 28, 2024, protesters in Tbilisi have been holding daily protests at the Georgian parliament and blocking traffic along Rustaveli Avenue, demanding the release of all arrested supporters of European integration and the appointment of new parliamentary elections.
