Defense Ministry reports 19 drones shot down in southern Russia

Last night, air defense forces intercepted 54 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles over Russian regions. Of these, 19 were shot down in the Southern Federal District.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, last night, the Volgograd Region was subjected to a massive attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. A fire broke out in the regional center at the site where the drone fell. The military also repulsed an air attack in the north of the Rostov Region. The UAVs were shot down in the Millerovsky, Tarasovsky and Kamensky districts. Grass caught fire in several places where debris fell.

"During the past night from 23:00 Moscow time on August 21 to 07:00 Moscow time on August 22, air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 54 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles," the Russian Defense Ministry reported on its Telegram channel at 07:41 Moscow time.

At the same time, 11 were intercepted in the skies over the Volgograd Region, and another seven over the Rostov Region. Drones were also destroyed in Crimea, Bryansk, Voronezh, Belgorod, Oryol and Kursk regions, the department noted.

Recall that of the 49 drones intercepted by air defense systems over Russian regions on the night of August 21, 21 were shot down over Rostov Region. In Novoshakhtinsk, after a UAV attack, a fire was recorded at an industrial enterprise.
