Two workers died in a sewer in Taganrog

The bodies of two workers were found in a sewer collector in Taganrog.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Rostov Region, the workers' bodies were found in a sewer manhole on Syzranova Street.

The death of the workers was confirmed by the Rostov Region Prosecutor's Office, which reported that the bodies were found on August 16. According to the department, the workers were carrying out repair work in the collector.

Earlier, "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote that in May 2021, after poisoning at a treatment facility in the village of Dmitriadovka near Taganrog, ten workers died and eight more were hospitalized. Later, two more victims died in the hospital. A methane breakthrough was named as the cause of the tragedy. The chief engineer of the Taganrog Vodokanal, Yuri Polyakov, was accused of the death of the workers and was taken into custody. In September 2022, he was sentenced to three and a half years in a penal colony.
