Protests in support of political prisoners continue in Tbilisi for 250 days in a row

Pro-European demonstrators blocked Rustaveli Avenue near the Georgian Parliament for the 250th day in a row. The daily action was preceded by a march in support of Nino Datashvili.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on August 3, on the 249th day of continuous actions, protesters near the Georgian Parliament demanded the release of political prisoners, in particular Mzia Amaglobeli and Nino Datashvili, and the resumption of the course towards European integration. Georgian activist Nino Datashvili, arrested in connection with the case of an attack on bailiffs, was sent for a psychiatric examination; her defense considers this decision to be illegal.

Rustaveli Avenue near the Georgian Parliament building in Tbilisi has been blocked again on the 250th day of continuous protests. The protesters have made unchanged demands - they are seeking re-elections to the parliament and the release of imprisoned demonstrators, writes NEWS.On.ge.

Participants in the march in support of Nino Datashvili marched to the parliament building. The march began at Freedom Square, where protesters also blocked traffic. During the march, they chanted: "Until the end!" and "Freedom for Nino Datashvili!", writes Publika.

The professional community of educators spoke out in defense of Datashvili, who works as a teacher: the activist's colleagues appealed to diplomatic missions with a request to use all possible levers to protect her. The targeted persecution of Datashvili, according to them, violates legal and ethical norms and can be equated to inhuman treatment and torture, writes Tbilisi_life.

As of 21:55 Moscow time, 305 teachers had signed the appeal in support of Nino Datashvili.
