Conditions of detention tightened for Chechen resident Visangiryev who complained of violence

Immediately after being transferred to a new colony, Chechen native Said-Akhmed Visangiriyev, who complained of cruel treatment at his previous place of detention, was placed in a punishment cell, and then in a single cell-type room.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, the Human Rights Commissioner in Chechnya Mansur Soltayev reported on the transfer of Said-Akhmed Visangiriyev from a colony in the Vladimir Region. Earlier, his relatives reported cruel treatment of the prisoner.

The Chechen Human Rights Commissioner Mansur Soltayev said that an inspection of the conditions of detention would be conducted, as well as whether there was a violation for which the conditions of detention of Said-Akhmed Visangiriyev in the Vladimir region were tightened.

“It is important to find out whether the violation of the internal regulations, due to which Said-Akhmed was placed in a single cell-type room for six months, is true. I do not understand why such a severe punishment was applied. In our time, it is impossible to hide anything...  cameras are installed everywhere to record events,” Mansur Soltayev noted in his Telegram channel.

Earlier, the Chechen opposition Telegram channel NIYSO reported that immediately upon arrival at the new colony in the Vladimir region, a report was drawn up on Visangiriyev for failure to comply with internal regulations and he was placed in a punishment cell for 10 days. After that, based on another report, he was transferred to a single cell-type facility for a period of 6 months.

“Said-Akhmed’s health condition is extremely serious today — his temperature has not gone down for a month, and he is not receiving any medical care,” the Telegram channel said in a statement.
