The authorities have not responded to the appeals of the parents of the students whose houses were excluded from the territory of the new school No. 121 in the settlement of GES in the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd. The enrollment for the first and third grades of the new school is closed, the parents intend to contact the prosecutor's office.

On this matter, the city residents recorded an appeal to the governor of the Volgograd region: they consider the distribution of places in the school to be unfair, claiming that priority was given to children from the elite cottage settlement of Latoshinka, which is located several kilometers from the school.

The new school #121, opened in the Volgograd settlement of GES, has finished accepting applications for admission to the first and third grades, and is still accepting applications for other grades. Parents of first-graders continue to express their indignation at the “unfair distribution of places” at the school, which has become the closest to their homes.

“I don’t understand how the addresses included in the microdistrict of School No. 121 were distributed, how the settlement of Latoshinka, which is far from School No. 121, ended up on this list. There is a clear corruption component here. "We demand that the prosecutor's office look into this disgrace," said one of the parent activists, who had previously sent a public complaint to the authorities, on condition of anonymity. Anna Kurchatova lives with her family on Geroev Shipki Street, in a house that is not included in the micro-district assigned to School No. 121. She has two sons: the eldest is in the seventh grade, the youngest is being enrolled in the first grade. "We went to School No. 121 after July 14, there were no more places there. We wanted to enroll both sons there, there was no place for the youngest, and without the eldest we will not enroll him in school, let them study in the same place. So we will take him to the school where the eldest goes,” the woman said.

Anna said that her eldest son goes to a school located several kilometers from home, on Spartanovka. “We don’t want to send our sons to School No. 87, I won’t say why. And they won’t take us to School No. 121, although it’s within walking distance. The new school is nearby. Well, we’re unlucky, maybe we’ll try next year,” Kurchatova complained.

Anna’s sister Anastasia is raising a ten-year-old daughter. The girl goes to School No. 18. Now the woman is thinking about the possibility of transferring her daughter to School No. 121. “We’ll have to take her to this school (No. 121), but it’s not that far. Our grandparents live in that area, they can even spend the night there if necessary. And there is a real possibility of enrolling in the new school. Although there will be a problem with getting used to the new children and teaching staff. In general, we think there is still time," said Anastasia.

A woman who introduced herself as Elena said that she successfully enrolled her child in the first grade at School No. 121. She asked not to disclose her address. "Well, there were some rough spots during registration, there was a misunderstanding of the situation, but everything was resolved successfully. The school is excellent - new, modern. Let's see what kind of teaching staff there will be. It is clear that the teachers have not shown themselves in any way yet," said Elena.

A resident of the village of LatoshinkaAndrey Stanislavovich believes that the "excitement" around the enrollment of first-graders in the new School No. 121 "is artificially created." "I don't know why this problem is being inflated and by whom, but it does not exist. Here we were offered to transfer my nephew to the sixth grade in this school. Now he studies in another school, in Spartanovka. My sister refused this offer. We do not know the teaching staff in the new school, and in our school they are mostly great, although the school is old. The main thing is not the walls and roofs, but how they teach. Then School 121 was promoted in the media, the governor visited it in winter. So people rushed to enroll there, and the school is not elastic. "In general, the scandal is blown out of proportion," a resident of Latoshinka told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
