Krasnodar resident fined for comment on arson of military registration and enlistment office

A military court found Krasnodar resident Viktor Morozov guilty of justifying terrorism for a comment under a post about the verdict of a St. Petersburg resident in the case of an attempted arson of military registration and enlistment offices. Morozov was sentenced to a fine of 400 thousand rubles.
 
The Southern District Military Court issued a verdict in a criminal case against 30-year-old previously unconvicted Krasnodar resident Viktor Morozov.

According to the investigation and the court, on November 25, 2023, Morozov, "being an opponent of the Russian Federation conducting a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine," posted a comment on a social network under the news item about the court's verdict against a St. Petersburg resident in the case of an attempted arson of two military registration and enlistment offices, in which he recognized the actions of the convicted person as admissible and justified."

He was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public justification of terrorism, committed using information and telecommunications networks, including the Internet).

The court found Morozov guilty of public justification of terrorism and sentenced him to a fine of 400 thousand rubles and a two-year ban on activities related to the administration of websites and pages on the Internet, the Krasnodar Territory Prosecutor's Office reported today on its Telegram channel.

According to information on the court's website, the sentence was handed down today; the case had been heard in court since June 5. The defendant's patronymic, Alekseevich, coincides with the patronymic of Krasnodar resident Viktor Morozov, who was fined one thousand rubles on April 22, 2024, for posting a photo of a rainbow flag on the social network VKontakte.

Initially, the court did not find any elements of an offense in the post, but subsequently agreed with the position of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
