The case of hostage taking in Rostov pretrial detention center has reached the court

Five people are accused of attempting to escape, participating in a terrorist organization, preparing a terrorist attack, and taking hostages in Rostov Pretrial Detention Center No. 1; the case has been sent to court.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, the five people accused of taking hostages in Rostov Pretrial Detention Center, Ramazan Albekov, Magomed Alkhanov, Malik Gandaloev, Daniil Kamnev, and Adam Kodzoev, planned to get to Ingushetia, join a local armed group, and commit several terrorist attacks and sabotage, the FSB reported.

Investigators have completed the investigation of the criminal case on the attempted escape from the pretrial detention center in Rostov-on-Don, the taking of hostages and terrorist crimes, the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Rostov Region reported.

Five people, depending on the role of each, are accused of attempted escape (part 3 of article 30, part 3 of article 313 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), taking of hostages (part 3 of article 206 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), disorganization of the work of the pretrial detention center (part 3 of article 321 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), attempted terrorist attack (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), preparation for participation in an illegal armed formation (Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
 
According to the investigation, in June 2024, the accused left the pre-trial detention center without permission, then took two GUFSIN employees hostage and used violence against four employees that was dangerous to life and health, causing them bodily harm. All the accused were supporters of a terrorist organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, the organized group included 10 people - the case against five was referred to court, five were killed by security forces during the release of the hostages.
 
The criminal case has been sent to court for consideration on the merits, the report says.

As of 9:34 Moscow time, the Southern District Military Court website does not contain a case file against the five defendants.

Recall that in October 2024, human rights activists reported that at least seven prisoners in the Taganrog pretrial detention center were tortured in order to obtain confessions in the case of the riot in the Rostov pretrial detention center/

Analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" earlier noted that the FSIN institutions are short of employees, and those who are there work long hours for modest salaries, which contributes to the development of corruption and violation of safety rules for personal gain.
