Conflict with "Russian Community" in Moscow attracts attention in Chechnya

Residents of the Lyublino District in Moscow have filmed a video in which they claimed that activists of the "Russian Community" tried to illegally detain Chechen children. The police were called to the venue; and the representative office of the head of Chechnya in Moscow got involved in the situation.

A video about the conflict of the "Russian Community" with locals in Moscow was posted by the Telegram channel "ChP Kavkaz".

In the video, residents of the Lyublino District are outraged by the actions of the "Russian Community" activists. "Speak on camera, ‘This is a first grade pupil.’ Why have you detained our kids," says a female voice behind off screen. From time to time, the woman switches to the Chechen language. "Here, nationalists are standing. Nationalists, who else are you?" she asks addressing young people.

The video shows policemen; one of them is talking to young people. The recording was made in the evening.

"We started asking on what grounds our children were detained and what they were accused of. However, we never received a single clear answer," the woman, who primarily speaks Chechen, is quoted in the video caption.

After the police arrived, parents were advised to file a complaint against the actions of a group of people who had detained the kids without any legal grounds. As law enforcers noted, such actions can be classified as abuse of civil authority, the report says.

The Representative Office of the Head of the Chechen Republic in Moscow has joined in resolving the incident. All the participants in the event, as well as eyewitnesses and the children's parents, were identified, Mansur Soltaev, Chechen Ombudsperson, has reported today, whose words were quoted by the “Chechnya Today” News Agency.

Earlier, Malik Ashrafov, a resident of Dagestan complained to Russian President, Vladimir Putin, about the "Russian Community" after the conflict in Saint Petersburg. Appeals to authorities gave no results. The conflict is not interethnic in nature, and members of the "Russian Community" are rarely held accountable, analysts have noted.
